Backup

Backup is process of saving web site data to your computer in case that your web site crashes so you can import backup and have latest version of your web site online. Instant Update's backup can be run from within the dashboard and it will generate a file in your manage/ folder which name will be generated from a set of 8 random characters and current date, followed by the .sql extension. You should download backup file to your computer and keep it in a safe place as it contains all of your web site users' data.

You should make backup of your web site at least once a week for a frequently updated website or once a month for a less frequently updated website. Of course, if you have a lot of users which are working on your website daily, you might consider making a daily backups.

To import backup to a Instant Update you can use our MySQL plugin or a specialized MySQL management software, such as phpMyAdmin or WizMySQLAdmin.

Note
Make sure not to import backups from old versions of Instant Update to new version of software. Import only backups made with same version you are currently running on your website!
